Mintz Adoption #2
Donation protected

Hi, I’m Bethanie, writing this on behalf of my husband, Brian, and our six amazing kids: Tonchi, age 12; Koa, age 10; Aisling, age 8; Xanthie, age 6, Aspen age 2; Sieger age 3 weeks. From the time Brian and I were married in 2005, there was no question we would have kids, whether by birth or through adoption, as Brian was adopted as a baby. Five of our children came to us easily; we are so grateful for them and love them dearly. Aspen was adopted 2 years ago and our family wouldn’t be complete without him!! Many of you may even remember our Go Fund Me page for him!!!
Around the same time we started Aspen’s adoption process we were made aware of a disabled child in need of a forever family. When Brian and I found out about this child we knew there wasn’t anything to discuss. We knew that this child needed to be in our family. We also knew it would create big changes for our family. We talked to the kids about it and some have had their concerns (rightfully so), and others are super excited! I never could have imagined this for our lives, and yet it feels right and it feels like I somehow knew our family would look different than I expected.
This child has Rett Syndrome. Instead of trying to explain it, I’ll let the RettSyndrome.org site describe it accurately:
Rett syndrome is a rare non-inherited genetic postnatal neurological disorder that occurs almost exclusively in girls and leads to severe impairments, affecting nearly every aspect of the child's life: their ability to speak, walk, eat, and even breathe easily.
This child is bound to her wheelchair and is dependent on others for all of her needs. Eating, dressing, moving and communicating. God calls us to have compassion on the poor and needy. She is family poor and in need of much love and care. We have love to give and as I am a Registered Nurse, the care doesn’t overwhelm me as it may for others. We started this process 2.5 years ago and it finally seems like we are getting close!
The reason for this page… we thought that her adoption and the finances that entails would be mostly covered and some of it may, but not all of it. We have renovations that need to take place to our home, like a bathroom suited for her and ramps to get into the house. Because there has been a shortage of funds and because we want to get this child home as soon as we can, we are asking for your help.
Our faith is strong because we see that God has faithfully led us this far and will provide all that we need to bring the child home to be a part of our family. We also know that we can’t do this alone. Will you join us as we step out in faith to walk the road God has for us? We would so appreciate your prayers and any financial help you can give through Go Fund Me or to us directly. We would love for you to be a part of our journey!
Thank you!
