Miracle for Max Tucci
Donation protected
Max is a sweet and happy four year old boy who has been diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic condition called Spastic Ataxia Neuropathy Type 5. He is the FIFTH PERSON in the WORLD to be diagnosed with this condition, and the FIRST in NORTH AMERICA. The statistics are hard to comprehend!
Unfortunately, this condition impacts Max’s mitochondria - his body’s energy source. It also impacts the cerebellum of his brain, the part of his brain responsible for all of his muscle tone and coordination.
As a result, all of Max’s fine and gross motor skills have been impacted. He is essentially paralyzed. He is wheelchair bound, g-tube fed, is non-verbal, and struggles with lengthy seizures ( hours at a time unfortunately). His symptoms have evolved over time and he has been hospitalized 17 times in the last two years. However, through all of it, Max has continued to be a very happy little guy who brings so much joy to those around him!
With all of these complications Max is faced with, there are also many costs. Max goes to regular physio, occupational, swim, and speech therapy. He requires quite a few pieces of pricey equipment and his blenderized g-tube diet is also costly. In addition, his family now has to consider adapting things in their lives to be more accessible, both in terms of a vehicle and
their home.
The proceeds from this fundraiser event will go specifically towards making his home accessible. This includes things like putting in an elevator, a ramp to the front door, widening doorways throughout the home, and putting in an accessible washroom. Just to name a few ...
There are many ways to help and support Max through this journey.
