Lauren & Chris’s Story:

Lauren met Chris through mutual friends at a restaurant called Chickies & Pete’s in October of 2007. Their connection was immediate and they were inseparable. On July 11, 2009 they were married in front of almost 200 friends and family members.

What happened next, was a dream come true… the start of their growing and loving family. They have four beautiful and energetic children: Brynn, 8, Colin, 6, Caden, 2 and most recently Brooke, 6 weeks.

Their children are their greatest joy, but Lauren’s most recent pregnancy brought unforeseen complications.

On November 9, 2018, in front of her mother and newborn baby, Brooke, Lauren had a cardiac arrest, caused by postpartum cardiomyopathy.

In order to keep Lauren alive the paramedics worked on reviving her for 19 minutes in the back of the ambulance. Even the driver worked on Lauren instead of driving straight to the hospital because her condition was so dire.

Once Lauren reached the hospital, she was in coma for 36 hours. She developed pneumonia, deep vein thrombosis throughout her left arm, a pulmonary embolism in her left lung, and had every test imaginable: echocardiogram, cat scan, X-rays, MRI, a cardiac catheterization, and had a defibrillator implanted.

Over 95% of people who suffer from sudden cardiac arrest die before they reach the hospital. Lauren was one of less than 5% that live. She not only lived but regained normal brain function. She was named “Miracle Mom” by the hospital staff who cared for her.

The McRae’s must  adjust to a new normal as Lauren works on her long road to recovery. Due to physical restrictions placed on her by her physicians, she is unable to hold or fully care for her newborn or 2 year old son. The family is looking for financial assistance to help care for Brooke and her brothers and sister. All four children are precious and need help while their mother recovers from her harrowing ordeal and residual health problems.

This fundraising effort is to help pay for the unplanned medical expenses, child care needs and other day to day expenses the family now faces. Thank you for your support and prayers. Lauren must have a lot of angels watching over her already! Please become another one, embrace this challenge and help enable this beautiful mother to recover and grow strong and healthy.
