Miracles for Maletta

Our dear friend and colleague Maletta Johnson is one of the most beautiful angels that God ever placed on this earth! She has a heart filled with love, a kindness in her eyes and a smile that lights up the room.

 

We were blessed to meet Maletta at work when she moved to Sarasota from West Virginia. She started out at the front desk of one of our resorts as the cute, bubbly-faced agent who greeted everyone with a smile. Maletta works with us now in our Regional Sales Office, and her colleagues describe her as "loving, caring, kind, funny, beautiful and STRONG." She is our Mama Bear and looks out for each and every one of us. She is also an incredible mother of two gentlemen, Ryan and Dominique, and always puts her children and grandchildren’s well-being above anything else.

 

In April 2021 Maletta found a lump in her breast and after scans and a biopsy, she was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer. It's certainly not the news any woman wants to get, but she handled it with strength and grace and, as always, relied on her faith in God to guide her. Maletta decided that a double mastectomy was the way to go. With the love and support of her family, she remained positive and hopeful. After meeting with her oncologist, and learning of the size of the mass, they decided to move forward with a lumpectomy instead. After a successful surgery in early June, Maletta was on the road to recovery. The very next week, she learned that the cancer had spread to her lymph node, taking her to Stage 2. The following week, she had another surgery and was given a chemo port. After this procedure, she had an infection in the port delaying her chemo treatments for two months. Everyone worried that the wait would give the cancer time to spread. Finally, the infection cleared and our dear friend was able to start treatments.

 

Maletta is currently undergoing 16 chemotherapy treatment sessions with radiation following. We are all praying for a miracle! Unfortunately, the chemo has taken such a toll on her body that she can no longer work full time and is very sick. She is such a crucial part of our team and work family, and we cannot wait to have her back. We have the work part covered, but now we need your help to get her through financially. The medical bills are piling up and the missed time from work has her concerned.
