Miracles needs a Miracle

My name is Riva La Voy, a.k.a., Ms. Miracles, I am the owner and operator of Miracles Event Hall, 3101 Bruxelles Street, New Orleans, LA 70119; located in the Historic 7th Ward Neighborhood.

In 2014, I sold my home in Stonebridge to purchase Miracles Event Hall to provide affordable and excellent events and to further my desire for community outreach.

At Miracles Event Hall, we host family reunions, weddings, birthday parties, discounted funeral repasts, community meetings, church gatherings, health fairs, school supply giveaways, toy giveaways, mental health counseling, neighborhood support and local street clean-up.

We are where community members meet, not just for celebrations, but we are where the community comes for assistance; whether it be financial, emotional, clothing or nourishment needs; we are a hub of resources.

Miracles employs the unemployable (i.e. recovering drug addicts, formerly incarcerated individuals, those with mental instabilities, an 80-year old caterer and her daughter who provide catering services for our parties, just to name a few). We also provide on the job training for newly graduated, at-risk high school students and assistance with start up businesses.

I, like others, was impacted by Hurricane Ida and experienced personal and business losses. While the personal losses were great, the business losses and damages were greater. Denied insurance claims and reduced SBA loan payouts fell short of building repairs that needed to be made. This unfortunate chain of events facilitated the need for me to access and ultimately deplete my reserved savings account. Once the repairs were made, I found myself facing yet another challenge; that of a drastically increased mortgage. My mortgage increased by a whopping 45% of the original amount in 2022. With my reserve savings depleted, I was only able to pay the increased amount of $11,000 per month for 7 months. As a result of the short comings of the SBA loan, depleted reserve monies, reduced number of events due to Hurricane Ida displacement of myself and the community members, I have found myself at the risk of losing my building. I may lose the property and all that it does for the Community if I am unable to gain funding to purchase my building back and have it titled in my name. This is a great establishment that is a staple in the community and is vital in helping others. So many will be devastated, lives and families impacted, if I lose this building. I need God's grace through you!

I have elicited the help of a local brokerage firm that will help me to re-gain rightful ownership of my building. However, I need to raise $100,000 to offset the down payment, closing costs and other fees associated with mortgage financing.

Here's where you are able to assist. No amount is too small, it will all aid in reaching our goal.

With your help, I can gain ownership of my building and remain a vital component in the community-at-large.

Thank you in advance...
