Campaign for Second Story
Tax deductible
As many of you know, the Second Story organization is one that I have been involved with as a volunteer and community ambassador for years. Second Story works with at-risk youth, homeless youth, and young mothers in Fairfax County to help empower them with counseling, education, and tools to set their futures on a different path.
Imagine that you are 18 years old and just had a blowout fight with your family. You hear the words, “you are old enough, you are out” and any sort of home that you thought you had is now gone. While feeling lost, alone, and without the knowledge of what to do you hear about Second Story. They swoop in to help redirect you, provide long-term housing, assist you with finding employment, give you tools to balance your education and job. Things are looking up and then everything you were working towards with your financial stability comes to a halt. The COVID-19 outbreak hits the area and you are laid off from your job. Now the feelings of isolation, instability, and uncertainty creep back in.
I’m writing to all of you today to help Second Story keep these kids on the right path. At a time like now, many of the youth with part-time hourly jobs have been laid off. Due to the pressures of Coronavirus Second Story is having to do more for their clients with less. The Second Story staff is doing the heroic work to keep assisting their clients during this difficult time.
Many folks are sitting at home wanting to help those suffering in our community but they don’t know where to start. Second Story is where you start. Let’s help some of our most vulnerable populations keep writing their second story.
$100 - Provides three weeks of food for a young woman and her child
$250 - Provides five therapy sessions through these challenging and often anxious times
$1,500 - Covers approximately two months of rent and resources for a young person
Thank you for pitching in because together (at a safe distance) we do more!
