Misdiagnosed Boxer Need Perineal Fistual Repair

Hi, my name is Jill and I’ve had boxers for 35 years plus. My current remaining male boxer, Bane, who was rescued in 2015 and is approximately 9 years old needs surgery. Our family recently moved from New Jersey to California to be together after 15 years to welcome a new baby in November 2022.

Bane had anal swelling in April 2022. I took him to a New Jersey veterinarian who told me that this happens with older boxers who are not neutered. I was given medication for swelling that didn’t help and was told he was in no pain and would not be an issue for him in the future.

We drove across the country dogs and cat in tow and Bane has worsened. He is swollen twice as big as before, is straining to have a bowel movement and has blood in his urine.

We took him to an emergency vet yesterday and have been quoted $10,000 for his surgery to repair two anal hernias.

I am a widow and cannot afford to pay the full amount for this surgery and do not want to put him down knowing he still has time with me, my children and grandchildren.
