Mexico Earthquake: Build A Home

Donation protected
On Tuesday, September 19th, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit central Mexico leaving a rising death-toll of 282 people and thousands others homeless. The places most affected were Mexico City, Morelos, Puebla, Estado de Mexico and Guerrero and Oaxaca.

I serve as Pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in the Brighton Park neighborhood of Chicago. Many of my parishioners of Mexican origin and their families have been affected by this tragedy.

In Puebla alone 1,700 homes have been declared uninhabitable and should be demolished over coming months, according to the state governor. The number could well rise after experts finish more exhaustive inspections.

While there are many people of good-will throughtout the world contributing to short-term relief such as medicine and food, this campaign led by our Church in Chicago will focus on long-term relief by building a free house for a family of 5 in the State of Puebla.  The estimated cost of building a single family home is $25,000.

Our pastor has connected with local diocesan officias in Puebla who will identify the family that will receive the house. He will personally travel to Puebla to provide the funding and ensure that the house gets built and delivered to a family affected by this earthquake by January 2018.

Join "Mision Esperanza" (Mission of Hope) and contribute to give sustainable help to a family affected by the earthquake.

If our goal is surpassed, we will build as many homes as the donations allow.
