Miss Audrey’s Fight
Donation protected
Hi there, my name is Dani and I want to tell you a little about my sister and my new niece Audrey.
My sister Taylor recently welcomed a precious little girl named Audrey into the world on September 24, 2023. However, Audrey faced some challenges right from the start. Born at 37 weeks, she measured only 31/32 weeks due to the development of an abnormally large cyst on the placenta near the umbilical cord. As a result, Audrey did not receive the necessary nutrients to grow during those weeks. We are grateful for the newborn screening labs, as they diagnosed Audrey with a condition that will likely need medication for life and could have had some serious complications should it have been undetected. Despite these difficulties, Audrey has shown incredible strength and resilience. However, she still struggles to breathe normally on her own all the time and due to her small size, she currently relies on a feeding tube for most of her feedings until she becomes strong enough to feed from a bottle or nurse.
We remain hopeful that our little Audrey will be able to come home soon, but there is still much uncertainty surrounding when that will be. We understand that this is a challenging time for everyone, and we want to make it clear that we are not asking for any financial support for the McShane family. However, many people have expressed their desire to donate, and if you wish to do so, I know they would be forever grateful for any financial assistance that can help cover the costs of Audrey's extended stay in the NICU. If you prefer to use venmo Taylor’s username is @taylor-mcshane-89 .
As soon as my sister and Audrey are able to join big sister and dad at home, we will have a meal train if that is another way you feel called to support them during this time.
My heart goes out to my sister and her family as they navigate through this incredibly challenging time. I am in awe of the immense strength she has displayed each and everyday even when she feels defeated, and I can only imagine how difficult it must be for them. It is truly heartbreaking to witness someone so close to me endure such hardship.
I would like to express how grateful I am for your kindness and generosity.
Forever grateful,
Dani Gabel
