Miss Black and Gold 2019-2020 Scholarship Pageant

Miss Black and Gold should possess beauty and brains, class and initiative, goals and strength. I feel as though Miss Black and Gold, is more than just her title, she is the chapter she serves. Her qualities should be focused around her beliefs and her heart. Embracing education, community, ambition, kindness and fellowship are just a few qualities and paths she takes throughout her journey. Miss Black and Gold should be able to meet people where they are, and want to motivate them to elevate their circumstance, reach for higher education, endorse activism and most of all assure her brothers that it doesn't matter where you are from, everyone has dignity, self-worth and a future. In conclusion, I
desire to be Miss Black and Gold because a queen who dares to open new doors and create new opportunities not only for herself but for her community immediately adds value and I humbly can say that I do not partake in anything in which I will not add value to.

My name is Kennedi Saunders and I am currently a sophomore majoring in political science with a 3.58 GPA. I serve as President of Ladies of CAU, Speaker of the House of House of Delegates, Sophomore Class Council Event Committee and am involved in a number of community service organizations. I am vying to be a participant in the 2019-2020 Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Pageant, because I humbly look up to and admire the men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. This scholarship will positively impact me  by aiding in my success here on the campus of Clark Atlanta University and my growth as a woman. Being an active student on campus is hard when factoring the cost of tuition and everyday life. I am passionate about this position, and have fully dedicated myself because Alpha men never give up, therefore neither should I.
That is why I am requesting the amount of $2,500. Pageants are costly... business attire, ball gown dresses, hair and make-up are simply just things that I cannot solely afford at this time. Fortunately, the amounts are due in     incrimements, with the pageant being on April 13th, 2019.

My Platform is called  F.I.G.U.R.E.S:
Forming an Identity Genuine and Unique to Reach Excellence and Sophistication.
My platform is divided into 4 main areas. The first is, Hidden Figure which takes an environmental ownership approach to interact with the West End community by being a voice for the homeless and displaced, by heavily interacting in community service. The second is Public Figure which targets youth to become better by showing them the endless opportunities that they can be afforded. This area is made to teach and implement ways for students to become better role models for their families, and communities. Next is the, Authentic Figure that targets self care and self love and addressing mental health in the African- American community. Lastly The 6 Figure; this area stresses the importance of financial literacy, creating and finding more scholarships for University students, how to fill out tax forms, information about credit and more! I plan on implementing my platform in not only at Clark Atlanta University but also throughout the AUC community, and West End area of Atlanta through programming held either monthly or bi-weekly. I feel as though it would be my call as Miss Black and Gold to uphold and uplift my community with a platform made for the people.

Thank you for taking the time out to read this I hope you find it in your heart to donate and support.
