Help Children Receive Scholarships and Educational Opportunities!
Hi, my name is Emily Delgado and I am a Miss Homestead Rodeo Queen Contestant.
To tell you a little bit about myself, I am 18 years old and a 3rd year pre-med student at FIU. I actually advanced 3 years of school and have my Associates in Arts degree in General Business, my business specialist certificate and my business operations certificate from MDC here in Homestead. As the very dedicated student that I am I was motivated to partner with Progressive Opportunities a new non-profit that focuses on helping families with low-income receive scholarships and the privilege to an education. This nonprofit is what motivates me to participate in this competition, as to me it isn’t a contest of who is better, but the possibility to help a nonprofit that is close to my heart. I, as well, have been a low-income student and to know that I would be helping to make a difference in the lives of others would mean the world to me.
Not only that, I also grew up in this lifestyle, riding horses and hearing the stories my grandpa would tell me. He studied Agriculture and was a rancher in his day. Since I could remember I’ve been wearing boots and baseball caps to be just like him. That is why I’m here, not only to make an impact in an organization that means the world to me, but also represent the world that is dear to my heart.
