Hello, I'm Nourhan Abu Mous and I'm 26 from Gaza, Palestine. I was born in Gaza Strip and have lived there with my family up to now. I can say that I'm so lucky because I'm still alive at this moment after I had witnessed more than 6 harsh wars on Gaza since I was born in 1998.
Before the war, I was an English teacher at UCAS university and a trainer at UFA. I was also a freelancer translator. I was about getting my Master degree in Business Administration. My life was full of joy, passion, success and inspiration.
After the 7th of October, I became unemployed and they destroyed both, the Islamic University where I was following up my master degree and the UCAS University where I was working as an English teacher.
Since the 7th of October 2023, I have been passing through many bad experiences with my family. One of them is the lost of my grandfather, many of my cousins, more than 5 of my close friends, teachers, my cousin with her little child, many of my students, colleagues, neighbors, relatives, acquaintances. Actually, I can't mention them all, they are so many.
Also, my paternal and maternal uncles lost their homes and their farms were burned because of the war on Gaza; they are more than 80 people most of the family members are children; they all compelled to evacuate to UNRWA schools but they didn't find place there. Subsequently, they moved to governmental schools and they faced the same boundary, NO ENOUGH SPACE so most of them are living in plastic tents and other relatives came to my home although it's small and cannot accommodate more than 30 people. In addition, my old brother is homeless now with his wife and 4 kids after destroying his home, it was partly destroyed and it's neither save nor fit for living. My seven paternal aunts along with their daughters, sons and grandchildren also live in tents, each aunt has a big family not less than 20 people most of them are children.
What add salt to our injury is the bad health of my mother and maternal aunt. The latter, has cancer and she needs urgent operations. The first, is in pain all the time and can't find enough medicine, she has chronic disease, Diabetes Mellitus; she needs insulin injections daily and they're not available in Gaza.
Since the 7th of October, they have no electricity, and suffer from the lack of water, food and other basics of life necessities.
This is the case of all Gazan, not only my family.
We lost everything EXCEPT our hopes!!!!
We'll never ever evacuate Gaza even if we got enough money because this is our home and this is our land and it will remain ours. We prefer to die rather than leaving Gaza and repeating the same scenario of 1948.
I'm raising this fund to help as much as I can, I have no other choices, I don't know what should I do to help them!
I'm here to raise fund to help my family, students, neighbors and a lot of people who are NOT willing to evacuate Gaza even if they are really suffering in tents.
This is another kind of resistance so please support us to survive in Gaza.
I've exhausted all avenues and now, I turn to you for support. Each dollar you donate can make a big difference and change our lives.
Here you can watch my story with more details.
Emma is my friend from Spain and she is helping me to receive the money on her bank account. She is going to resend the donations for me by Western Union because I don't have international bank account.
This fund will be spent to:
1. Help my father to pay back his debts because he is in deep debt since the beginning of the war. Many people have evacuated to my home and he bought many blankets for them and he bought food, drink and wood to cook that's why he is in debt. Many relatives still evacuate to our home from time to time during this war and some leave when situation becomes better around their homes, so the need for the money is urgent and renewable. My dad needs money also to afford food and water for us (a family of eight members). He also need money to buy new windows and doors after this war is over InshaAllah because all of our windows and doors destroyed.
2. Buy fresh vegetables and fruits for my diagnostic mother. She's diabetes mellitusand she needs particular kind of food and a mineral water which isn't chep.
3. Buy solar panels and batteries for lighting, running a refrigerator, and charging devices due to complete electricity blackout in Gaza. Additionally, my mother requires medications like insulin that need refrigeration.
4. Help my brother Mohammed who is married and has a family of 6 kids to get the basics of life necessities and rebuild his partly destroyed home.
5. Buy water tanks instead of the ones destroyed due to the war.
6. Save some amounts for the future needs.
