Miss Rodeo Hawaii 2022

Aloha, my name is Noel Tancayo. I am the current Miss Rodeo Hawaii 2022. I chose to represent Hawaii in the Miss Rodeo America pageant because the rodeo industry in Hawaii is a small community of Paniolos (Cowboys) whose horsemanship dates back to the 1800s. Many people aren't aware there are cowboys here in Hawaii. As a Paniolo, I want to represent our heritage to the rest of Hawaii and the mainland. I want to use this experience to expand what the Paniolo way of life is all about, culture, O’hana, and Aloha.

I come from a small island called Moloka’i, where I grew up. I continued my education on O’ahu at an all-Hawaiian boarding school called Kamehameha Kapalama High school. After high school, I moved to Kauai, where I received a job as a Biological Science Technician for the United States Department of Agriculture in the wildlife division.

The Miss Rodeo America pageant has many different scholarships for the queens to win; not only am I doing this to represent my Heritage in front of thousands of people, but I am also hoping to future my education and return to school for my Biology Degree. This position calls for a lot of travel and specialized clothing. In this position, I will be representing Hawaii, not only on Kauai Island but other Hawaiian Islands and other states as I travel.

Any donation given to Miss Rodeo Hawaii will be used for the Miss Rodeo America Pageant. At the Miss Rodeo America pageant, we have speaking engagements, autograph signings and personal appearances throughout the year. During these appearances, I will be representing myself, my O’hana, and my sponsors.

Since Hawaii has a small rodeo support system, my family and I are trying to raise the money on our own. The required clothing needed for the events during the pageant are extravagant. All state queens have most of their clothing custom-made. Traveling is also a big part of our financial expenses. We try to travel within the islands to support rodeos throughout the state.
