Help Miss Candee (Ron Walker) in a time of need!

We are DT's Hotel, a business located in Richmond, Victoria, Australia. We have set up this gofundme fundraiser on behalf of Ron Walker (a.ka. Miss Candee), who has been entertaining and giving their best to the Melbourne drag scene for over 40 years, and we are asking you to donate to help Ron in a time of need. Not only is Ron an employee of DT's Hotel, Henry Bucks and City Hatters but also a very dear friend to us and many others. Donations received will be transferred directly to Ron Walker's bank account.

Four weeks ago, our much-loved matriarch of Melbourne drag, was admitted to ICU due to an unknown infection in his lower back and spine. Without sugar coating any of the circumstances, Ron is not in a good way but does continue to fight. He has so far undergone two life-threatening operations and is being looked after 24 hours a day by some fantastic doctors and nurses. Ron is not out of the woods, and his condition can go either way. The infection has affected a large part of his body, in particular his limbs and feet.

Once allowed to leave ICU, Ron will remain in the hospital until further notice; from there, primary rehab therapy will commence for him to walk again and will need ongoing support. We envisage this to be a strain on his finances, not being able to return to work for a considerable amount of time, so we have set up a gofundme page to help raise some much-needed funds to assist with bills, rent, and any ongoing medical bills. It’s most likely that Ron will also need to find a more appropriate place to reside once leaving rehab, so anything you can give would be much appreciated.

The family has asked that any flowers you may have planned to send to Ron to instead donate the same amount to this gofundme page, where you can also leave messages of support if you wish.
