Missing Persons Therapist Training in Israel

As of Saturday morning, October 7th, 2023, Israel is at War following brutal inhumane attacks by Hamas in the Gaza strip and Southern Israel. Israeli civilians were slaughtered and burnt alive in their own homes, children murdered in front of their parents, babies beheaded, women raped, and the atrocities and war crimes are just inconceivable. In addition, hundreds of people were kidnapped to Gaza, among them a significant number are considered missing.

In the past few days, hundreds of therapists have already requested training specifically in Trauma Informed Therapy for the Families and Communities of Missing Persons. There are many therapists in Israel with expertise in trauma, terror attacks and loss of loved ones but not in Trauma Informed Therapy for the Families and Communities of Missing Persons.

Galit Itzhaki - Draizin, MSW, Jungian psychotherapist, Criminal profiler and Karen Shalev, Professor in Missing Persons Studies, at University of Portsmouth in England are beginning to meet this demand for training in Trauma Informed Therapy for the Families and Communities of Missing Persons with webinars. However, resources are needed for smaller group training and distribution of training materials.
