MISSION TRIP TO BRAZIL ON THE AMAZON RIVER

Family & Friends,

I am writing this support letter to tell you about a very exciting opportunity I have been given. I have been invited by Faith Church in Dyer, IN to go on a week-long mission trip to Brazil. This mission trip will be from September 23rd – September 30th and the team will be made up of 19 others. This will be my first mission trip, first time leaving the USA and I’m very excited to be part of this team.

Here is some background of the church and how it began.

In 2016 Faith Church began a partnership alongside First Presbyterian Church of Manaus (IPM) in Brazil. This is a large church whose vision for outreach includes medical care, church planting and leadership training in the rural outlying villages throughout the Amazon River in Brazil. IPM’s ministry includes 35 locations throughout the city of Manaus and an additional 109 along the rivers and tributaries in the Amazon basin. The staff and leaders of IPM have a great vision to reach the Amazon River basin and all of Brazil with the gospel. They have a vision of planting 100 new churches by 2030! We are excited to join them in this vision as we continue to impact the Intepeceau area of the Amazon.

In this time they’ve been able to build a vocational school in a river village called Intapeacu, which the teams have painted much of the school, treated the medical needs of villagers, led children through Bible school programs, renovated a shelter and most importantly, worshiped alongside the native villagers.

IPM has an outreach boat that reaches out to people who live in remote areas along the Amazon River and its different tributaries, which takes regular trips up the river. Each boat includes a doctor, dental offices, and a pharmacy well stocked with medicine and equipment.

In closing, I am reaching out to YOU. The total sum needed to cover this trip is $2,450, this includes airfare, in-country travel, lodging and food, and a $1,000 deposit is due soon. God calls people to serve in many different ways. Some are called to go, and some are called to send. I truly believe this trip will be life-changing, not just for me, but for the people we are serving and those that are sending us. I am asking for you to take time in prayer and listen to how God would have you give.
