Mission work in Africa (Missionsarbeit in Afrika)

Hello, my name is Rebecca Renken, I’m 19 years old and I'm from Bremen, Germany.

Together with my best friend Lara, I would like to spend about seven weeks in Africa. Lord willing, we will volunteer at Neema Village (Arusha, Tanzania) for three weeks and then help at Yordan School (Shigala, Tanzania) for about a month. We're planning to leave on August 16th.

My goal with this mission trip is twofold. I’m studying social work and am trying to figure out which age group I would like to work with after I finish my studies, which is why I see this time as a learning opportunity for my future career. But more importantly, my time in Africa is a service for God’s kingdom. I want to honor him and spread his love to those babies and children in Tanzania. And I am so grateful for this opportunity!

And I would also like to ask for your financial help. The costs for my missions trip will be about $3100 in total. The biggest chunks are transportation (flights etc.), which will cost about $1500, and the costs for Neema Village (lodging, food and transportation), which are about another $880. Those costs are also a part of the support of the village itself. The costs for food on the weekends, Yordan School and a few other expenses (visa etc.) will amount to about $720.

My plan is to pay for the flights (about $1500) out of my own savings account. However, that is only half of the total amount. I can’t do this alone and I would really appreciate your help in paying for my expenses, if you feel called to do so. I understand that it is a lot of money but any amount will help.

I will be writing an update via email every week to those who want to follow my journey. Please let me know if you would like to receive my updates and I will add you to my list.

Lastly, I would like to share two bible verses with you that I chose as my spiritual guidance for this mission trip:

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” (Mark 16:15)

And, my favorite bible verse, Romans 15:13 - “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Hallo, ich bin Rebecca Renken, 19 Jahre alt und ich komme aus Bremen in Deutschland.

Zusammen mit meiner besten Freundin Lara möchte ich etwa sieben Wochen in Afrika verbringen. So Gott will, werden wir drei Wochen lang im Neema Village (Arusha, Tansania) als Freiwillige arbeiten und dann etwa einen Monat lang in der Yordan School (Shigala, Tansania) helfen. Wir planen, am 16. August dort hinzureisen.

Mit dieser Missionsreise verfolge ich zwei Ziele. Zum einen, studiere ich Soziale Arbeit und versuche herauszufinden, mit welcher Altersgruppe ich nach Abschluss meines Studiums arbeiten möchte, weshalb ich diese Zeit als Lernmöglichkeit für meine zukünftige Karriere sehe. Aber noch viel wichtiger ist, dass meine Zeit in Afrika ein Dienst für Gottes Reich ist. Ich möchte Ihn ehren und Seine Liebe an die Babys und Kinder in Tansania weitergeben. Und ich bin so dankbar für diese Gelegenheit!

Und ich möchte Euch auch um finanzielle Hilfe bitten. Die Kosten für meine Missionsreise belaufen sich auf insgesamt etwa $3100. Die größten Brocken sind der Transport (Flüge usw.), der etwa $1500 kosten wird, und die Kosten für Neema Village (Unterkunft, Essen und Transport), die weitere $880 ausmachen. Diese Kosten sind auch ein Teil der Eigenfinanzierung des Dorfes. Die Kosten für die Verpflegung am Wochenende, Yordan School und sonstige Kosten (Visum usw.) werden sich auf etwa $720 belaufen.

Ich plane, die Flüge (etwa $1500) von meinem eigenen Ersparten zu bezahlen. Allerdings ist dies nur die Hälfte und deshalb wäre ich Euch sehr dankbar, wenn Ihr mich finanziell unterstützen würdet. Ich verstehe, dass dies eine Menge Geld ist, aber selbst der kleinste Betrag zählt.

Ich werde jede Woche ein Update per E-Mail an diejenigen schreiben, die meine Reise verfolgen wollen. Bitte sagt mir Bescheid, wenn ihr meine Updates bekommen möchtet, dann nehme ich Euch in meine Liste auf.

Zum Schluss möchte ich Euch noch zwei Bibelverse mit auf den Weg geben, die ich als geistlichen Leitfaden für diese Missionsreise gewählt habe:

"Geht hin in die ganze Welt und predigt der ganzen Schöpfung das Evangelium!" (Markus 16:15)

Und mein Lieblingsbibelvers, Römer 15:13 - "Der Gott der Hoffnung aber erfülle euch mit aller Freude und allem Frieden im Glauben, damit ihr überreich seid in der Hoffnung durch die Kraft des Heiligen Geistes."
