Romans 10:14
"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?"
Kyle and I are so excited to share this ministry and opportunity with you all! We are partnering with That They May Know Ministries, and, for the next year, we will live in Papua New Guinea and work in a bush clinic. The Kunai Health Centre was started by Lena Allen and has blossomed into a beautiful ministry that not only meets the national's physical needs but also shows them the love of God. We will live in Kotidanga in the Gulf Province of PNG. It is only accessible by bush plane and then a five-mile hike through the jungle (rain has recently washed away all the roads, so all travel is on foot). The clinic provides basic care to the people including burn treatment, setting broken bones, prenatal care, labor and deliver, suturing wounds, antibiotic therapy, IV therapy (in emergent cases), wound debridement, chronic illness management (such as tuberculosis), a baby milk program which provides formula for infants who would otherwise die of malnutrition, blood transfusions, and so much more. Our only nursing experience so far in our short career has been in a small Pensacola hospital, so this next year will prove to be a very worthwhile challenge.
Missionary work has always been so near and dear to Kyle and me, and to be able to combine our love for sharing Christ with our passion for nursing is all we could have asked for. The total sum for our 12 months abroad comes to $30,000 or $2,500/month. This fee will cover our air fare into PNG (which is super expensive BTW), flights in-country, our room and board, food and supplies that will need to be flown in, and random fees such as missionary insurance which covers emergency medicine and evacuations. We are planning on leaving by mid-March, and it is overwhelming to think about raising that much by ourselves in a matter of just a few weeks, but for the One who owns the cattle on a thousand hills is simply a drop in the bucket. Thank you all for taking the time to read our story, for your prayers, and for any financial support you feel led to give.
Matthew 6:19-21
"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."
