Mission's Heart for the English Tart
Donation protected
On December 1st, 2021 around noon, a mudslide went through a Silverdale home, bringing logs, debris, and enough mud to fill the home up to the roof. The home is owned by a beloved community member, Ruth, owner of the English Tarts in downtown Mission, BC, and her family. Nobody was home at the time and the family's three pets were able to be saved but they have been left with literally just the clothes on their backs in the blink of an eye. The family also has a safe place to stay but it will be a long and difficult process to have the area assessed for further risk and eventually rebuild a home. In the meantime, because Ruth's business is a member of the Mission DBA, the Mission Downtown Business Association would like to ask this amazing community to rally together to support Ruth and her family so that they can get their basic needs met asap; food, clothing, toiletries, etc.
Gift cards can be dropped off at the DBA office in the Mission Business Centre at 7311 James St. or please donate here. All funds raised will go directly to the family to help them recover from this tragic event by rebuilding their life and their home. Please do not bring any things as the family has nowhere to store them and they are overwhelmed with the mental and emotional aspects of this event.
