Misu's Surgery For Malignant Melanoma

Donation protected
Hi, this tiny pomeranian's name is Misu. She's 14 1/2 years old. She was mine before she was born. My sister's pom became pregnant one summer and had two puppies, but my sister had decided that I would get one of them for Christmas. I mean, what better present is there than a puppy? I already had a small dog at the time, but this teeny-tiny puppy was irresistible, and I became the person for two adorable dogs.

When I met my husband, he had two of his own dogs, but that was okay. Mine fit in perfectly, and the kids loved all the dogs, but my Misu was the teeny-tiny one, the same age as our youngest daughter. They've grown up together. Over time, the other three have crossed the rainbow bridge, leaving us with our 5 lb pom as the survivor. She's been very healthy up until this year.

She had a lump in her mouth under her tongue. She had it surgically removed, and she healed beautifully. Unfortunately, the pathology report came back saying it was a malignant melanoma and it would eventually return. We're devastated at the prognosis.

For a few months, she was fine, but since July, the mass has come back, and it's grown quickly. Right now, it's covering approximately half of the bottom of her mouth. It's starting to push its way outside of her mouth on her left side. We're afraid she's eventually not going to be able to eat and may even choke.

My dilemma is that I'd like to provide her with another surgery to make her more comfortable. Right now, she's feeling good and happy and is enjoying life. Other than the tumor in her mouth, she doesn't seem to have pain, though I'm sure it's not comfortable for her. She has lots of energy, eats well, looks forward to her meals, walks, and loves to play. If I don't know better, I'd say that there's nothing wrong with her.

I know another surgery isn't going to save her life, but I do want to make what's left of it more comfortable for her. I'm hoping she'll make it to her 15th birthday at the end of November.

Surgery is expensive but very worth it. As humans, we all come up against situations at times that are challenging. In the last while, God has given me some situations that have made it difficult for me to give that surgery to her right now. Anything that could help with a vet bill would be super appreciated. I know that there are many ways to manifest goodwill, money, and all types of things. For me, the hardest part is asking.

I appreciate your time, your attention, and anything you can do to help me out right now. In return, you'll have my never-ending thanks for helping one of my babies live out the full extent of her life.
