Mitch (Michel) Berard

Greetings

As you are all aware, my brother-in-law, Mitch (Michel) Berard passed away yesterday evening July 24 at 9:35., at 60 years of age.

Mitch was a long haul trucker and he loved his job, but a few years ago he started to have serious issues with his hips. He had been waiting for a painfully long time to have his hip replacement! The continuing deterioration of his hips made him unable to work anymore, and he was unjustly let go from his job! He filed a claim with Labour Standards. A short time later, Mitch suffered a debilitating stroke! Labour Standards closed his wrongful dismissal case, because he was no longer able to represent himself! He was the sole provider for Jeanne and himself! Jeanne could no longer work either, because she was in a very serious accident a couple of years earlier, which left her with a disability! Our healthcare system really let them both down terribly, as they tossed Mitch from the hospital to home, back to the hospital, Dr., home, etc. ! Dealing with a lack of healthcare workers to take care of him over the last two years has been a big struggle, and thankfully their children have helped her in that regard! But now Mitch is gone. He is no longer in pain, but my sister is facing a lot of different challenges now, after the ones she has been shouldering with Mitch’s health issues. She is most definitely going to have to move from where she is living, because there is no way that she can afford to stay there. She still resides with Claude who helps her so very much! We are now trying to deal with the funeral, and all of the legal issues, and importantly, trying to figure out Jeanne’s future! This is why I am starting this Go Fund Me. I know that two years ago when Mitch had his first stroke there was a Go Fund Me, which several people donated to. It was so very much appreciated! We’ve managed to get through these couple of years with help from many family and friends, and Jeanne and all of us are very grateful! But my sister is going to need your help! So please, if you can help donate so that we can help my sister find a new home and help her with the moving costs, etc. As well as the funeral costs! We are all still trying to figure all of this out, but any help would be greatly appreciated at this really tough time! As you know, we all lost our mother 15 months ago and I know that my sister really hasn’t had the chance to grieve because she’s been so busy caring for Mitch! Please donate. Any little bit would help! I just want my sister to not have to worry about things like that when she is going to have the biggest change in her life right now!
