Mitchell Family Hope and Support Fund

Our dear friends Wade and LaRae have lost their beloved youngest son, Brendan, in a tragic accident. Brendan fell into the Harlem river near Randall's Island Park in New York City on September 19. Despite the desperate attempts by his parents and others to reach him, Brendan was swept under by a powerful current. Search teams continue to search for Brendan's body as of this writing. He was five years old. 

Update: Search teams recovered Brendan's body on September 22 near Randall's island. 

As family and friends, we want to love and support Wade, LaRae, Gage, and Tatum in whatever ways we can during this unspeakably painful time. Phone calls, caring messages, prayers, and otherwise being present for the Mitchells and their extended family are so important now. Those who can order meals or otherwise support them in practical ways are encouraged to do so. And we remain hopeful that the search teams will recover Brendan's body.

We are also starting this GoFundMe as another expression of love and support in order to help Wade and LaRae cover expenses and remove any financial pressure or stress that may arise during this grief-filled time. All donations will go directly to Wade and LaRae to use as needed in the months ahead. Donations in any amount are deeply appreciated. 

A Benedictine prayer states, in part, "Out of God's deepest mercy a dawn will come on high - light for those shadowed by death, and a guide for our feet on the way to peace." May it be so for the Mitchells, and for all who have known and loved Brendan.
