Update 12/20/24:

Our dear sister Samantha has transitioned to heaven. The Lord called her home on December 19, 2024, after a valiant, brave, gritty, and graceful fight with Stage 4 Breast Cancer. We rejoice that her body is restored, while we grieve the loss of the special soul that was Samantha. Her husband, Tey, has continued to provide updates on Samantha's CaringBridge site.

We would like to keep the GoFundMe open to support Tey and the kids as they start to adjust to life without Sam. The Mitchell family was so incredibly blessed to have such a large outpouring during the initial fundraiser and that provided for many of their critical life and medical needs during the last year.

We’d like for Tey and the kids to be relieved of any tangible worries - including financial ones - while they finalize the remaining medical bills, pay for funeral services and a celebration of life for Samantha, and provide for many of the daily needs that will need to be met in these next several days, weeks, and months. Removing the burden of costs for childcare, house cleaning, meals, and more, will be a gift for this precious family.

Sam, throughout her cancer journey and especially in the last weeks, asked us to "Pray Big" and we will continue to do that. Two suggestions on how you can join us in that: 1) please pray that her legacy inspires people to know Jesus, and 2) please pray for Tey, Harvey, Layla, and Emory as they discover life without Samantha. As Tey has said - your prayers have not been in vain and we will all understand what has happened, one day. There’s hope in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Mitchell family were recently told that Samantha (wife to pastor Tey and mom to Harvey, Layla and Emory) has stage four breast cancer and that it has metastasized to her liver, ribs, spine, and pelvis. There likely won’t be any surgeries however treatments are likely to happen for years. 

This fundraiser is designed to care for them as they walk this difficult road as a family. The funds will go to alleviate the cost of medical expenses that have already start to occur. Sam will be attending multiple doctor's appointments and will need childcare for the kids. The medical aid Sam will undergo will cause her to be fatigued, we want to hire a cleaning service to come by every other week. Cooking and feeding the kids will become a big task, it will help to have money to buy takeout food. Lastly, a previous need, and now even more so, is a van for the family. 

This is a precious family and this is our chance to rally around them during this season. They are hopeful and believe in a good God who is not surprised by this season they find themselves in. Let’s do this! Galatians 6:2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
