I am Pamela jai manning, Mitchell's mother. My son was one of the good kids (not perfect) but he was still murdered in cold blood. He graduated from high school in 2021. He was 19 years old. During his years in school, he played baseball, football, and basketball, was a member of the choir, a member of the campus stage performance group and was a member of the drum line. He did it all. He also played drums for the church for many years (since he was 8 years old). We may never know what happened to our beloved son. We just know that he was amongst those that he called his friends when he was brutally murdered. We laid him to rest on Saturday, December 17, 2022, with the most beautiful ceremony that a mother could possibly give her son. We chose a burial plot in a beautiful cemetery where he lays next to a musician named Jesus who has pictures of a guitar inscribed on his headstone. Many people have asked us to let them know what they could do to help, so this is what we are asking, that people help us purchase a headstone inscribed with a picture of the drums that Mitchell loved so much so that all who visit will know that he and Jesus could possibly be making beautiful music together for eternity. As we wait anxiously to hear back from police detectives about more answers, we are still trying to find our normal with this horrific new status in life. I have to try and come to terms with the fact that I am now a member of the grieving mom's club as a result of senseless gun violence. I will also not sit quietly without trying to get the word out to other young adults that the violence must stop. They have to begin to understand that killing someone just because you are a little bit mad doesn't just change the life you took away, but it changes their lives as well along with so many others left to grieve one way or the other.
