Mitzi Mecham

Hi!!! It's me Denver, Mitzi Mechams daughter.

On Friday the 25th of August my mom woke up with a horrible headache, ear ache, and violently throwing up. Friday night she finally agreed to go to ER. They sent her home with high blood pressure and a flu bug. On that Sunday it had not gotten better but in fact gotten worse. Her left shoulder felt like it was hit by a bus and she then was not able to tilt her head down and have her chin touch her chest. We again finally convinced her to go in and they did a lumbar punch. They found Bacterial Menengits. They immediately put her upstairs and a patient. As time was progressing she was getting worse. Her head felt like it was going to explode and they could not figure out why or what is causing it. They did an MRI and found a spot of infection do to strep. A week later we were about to do another MRI and went to the bathroom and lost a ton of blood. She was unresponsive and decided to lifeflight her to Boise. They found a bleeding ulcer but she had to have a blood transfusion. After they were able to fix that they started focusing on her head and why she is in so much pain. We are still to this day trying to figure it out. She has now had 5 MRIs and has now lost all feeling and movement in her right leg, and left shoulder. She no longer can shower herself, stand up, walk, anything. We need to find answers. And when we do and she is medically cleared it will be a long road of live in rehab in Twin to get her walking again.

As many of you know my Dad is not in the best health either. Heart failure among other things. This has been so very trying on him. I am trying to get to Boise as much as I can to give him breaks and to help. And I am also trying to be there for my little family. A 1 year old and a 10 year old and of course my husband, and to have a full time job. My mom and I are best friends I have to be there with her as much as I can. But as we keep having no answers and having to keep travel to Boise and stay in Hotels and my dad is having to travel back and forth and putting his dogs in daycare so he can be with my mom it is getting too financally draining on him. If we could just even raise a few thousand dollars for food, gas, dog day care, hotels, travel it would help so much. Both my parents are retired and all they have is their camper. They wanted to become full time RVers. They have been so excited after so many years of raising kids and helping with grand kids they were going to Oregon in mid October to run light houses and work at a whale watching center. That plan, for now, has been put on the back burner.

If you know my family you know my mom would give you the shirt off her back or even go without eating so a family can eat. She and my Dad are some of the most amazing people you will ever meet. Any little bit helps and if you can't that is so beyond ok and would love your prayers and good thoughts. We got this!!! It will be a long road but as you know Mitzi Mecham is stubborn and determined.
