Celebrating life- Miyah & Amelia Michelle
Donation protected
My name is Stacy Simmons, and I’ve spent the last several years getting to know 15-year-old Miyah Rasmus as a close family friend and a leader in the church. She participated in outreach in the community by volunteering with us at the Lord’s Pantry. We were all so excited over the past few months, but not nearly as overjoyed as Miyah was Friday evening as she prepared to bring her daughter, Amelia Michelle into this world. After a delivery, Miyah was overcome with joy holding her beautiful baby girl for the first time.
Everything changed when we learned that complications of hemorrhaging and a rare, life threatening condition known as disseminated intravascular coagulation threatened to separate the two forever.
Doctors rushed to save her from this condition and life-flighted her to the Cleveland Clinic to administer what they hoped to be a lifesaving surgery and treatment. Sadly, just after 4 am Saturday morning, the news we all feared most came. Despite all of their efforts the doctors were unable to save her. Amelia’s first embrace with her mother would also be her last.
Miyah spent the last few moments of her life telling the doctors how excited she was to be Amelia’s mom and her plans for the future, not knowing that this would be her final conversation. As we reach out to welcome this beautiful baby girl Amelia, we must also mourn the loss of her mother Miyah. She made the ultimate sacrifice by giving her life, so Amelia could live hers.
As Miyah is ushered into heaven to be with the Lord her body will rest here on earth. Miyah was only 15 years old and did not have life insurance. We are asking for contributions to help cover the cost of Miyah’s last expenses as we celebrate her life. No amount is too small, and every penny of the proceeds will go directly to these expenses. Anything additional will be placed into fund for Amelia’s future, as a final gift from you and her mother.
Thank you and god bless.
