Hello Friends , Please consider helping provide financial support for Miyako who is battling to keep her eyesight after contracting a rare and aggressive parasite that is attacking her right eye.
This her story. A battle with AK (Acanthamoeba Keratitis)..
"A year ago today while I was away on beautiful family holiday to Malta. I went swimming at on the beaches nearby we was staying. A huge wave hit and water went into my right eye not noticing I left one of my prescription contacts whilst I was in the water. Later on that day I realised my was very irritated and red. A week later after I came back from holiday, I went to a wedding and noticed my right eye was constantly watering and throughout the day I was in pain, A huge migraine occurred and was very light sensitive. I eventually took painkillers and went to sleep at the reception. When i woke up I felt a bit better but still had quite a headache. Within that month I also started studying and my brand new job which i was so excited for to earn my own income to provide and not depend on anyone else.Within 3 days of starting my new job, I felt a sharp pain which i can describe as a piece of metal in my right eye. I couldn't even bare the pain so me and my mum went A&E that night and was seen by a doctor after doctor but I hadn't got any answers of what was happening, Trip after trip , there really wasn't any help :( .. Specialists traded me from one to another and I ended up going to see a cornea specialist to find my correct diagnosis . After many scans and sample taking, I found out that had this condition (Ancanthamoeba Keratitis) which is so rare. I got put on hourly eye drops for a month straight which means no sleep and off sick leave for two weeks. This was devastating and overwhelming for me. I still went work on time with little to no sleep whilst attending my hospital appointments every Wednesday which was a hour a journey there back.I tried my best and worked so hard whilst balancing studying even leaving my house was scary because I have severe photo-phobia and anxiety. In December just before Christmas I lost my job due to this condition, I was heartbroken as I felt as everything was getting worse but my family kept me going"
"In March 2019, I caught a secondary bacterial infection on top of my AK which caused massive corneal scarring . I woke up one night with no sight but only can see light. The consultants told the news to my family that I wont be able to get my vision back. Im heartbroken. I never felt so depressed in my life. I had to eventually stop studying and doing daily activities"
"I still need ongoing treatment as I'm still fighting against both of conditions which is affecting my everyday life. Also I dont know what the future is going to turn out for me but all I can do is pray. The treatment could take from months to years to save and could lead me having several corneal transplants..I am housebound , living in complete darkness and unable to do the things I love."
On behalf of Miyako . She need's your help throughout this difficult time, I would love her to get back into music to help deal with stress, anxiety and depression which distract her from her excruciating treatment. This will help her fund her studies at home such as (Resource Books/Equipment, A Laptop, Purchase of Musical Instruments , Music Lessons etc..) , Also to provide Medical expenses to cope with her daily living (eye patches and Prescription dark shades for her photo-phobia) Currently, Miyako has no source of income or savings to get back on her journey again.
In the future she also wants to plan and start a awareness page for other young AK sufferers like herself to communicate and share there stories.
All funds will be appropriated to my cause and recovery. Anything is helpful and appreciated and will never be forgotten. Thank you all in advance and God bless!
