Cooking for homeless
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Tanieshia. I'm a second year post secondary student in the Mental health and Wellness program offered through SIIT in Saskatoon.
On the night of November 6 I was driving home through downtown Saskatoon where I had seen people bundled in blankets sleeping on the sidewalks. Seeing this is what sparked an idea to cook something warm for the less fortunate.
Friday November 11th was a stat holiday. I knew organizations would be closed that would otherwise give these people food, snacks, and somewhere to warm up.
This is the day I chose to hand out 46 bowls of soup along with bannock to the community members. I shared my experience on Tik Tok where people were interested in supporting my cause.
This is something I want to continue doing for the colder months in Saskatoon, as well as investing in buying mitts, toques, scarves, and neck warmers to distribute to different organizations to help hand out to the less fortunate. Anything you can offer is greatly appreciated, even just sharing my fundraiser will help me on this goal I have to feed/help as many family members as possible in Saskatoon ❤️
