McDevitt Strong

Our friend Matt McDevitt, a 31-year-old FDNY member of Ladder 135, has been out of work for almost two years fighting a rare cancer called NUT Midline Carcinoma. Matt and his amazing wife, Jackie, have dedicated their lives to helping others: Matt as a firefighter and Jackie as a Physician Assistant.  They have a beautiful 1.5-year-old little boy, James, and are expecting a baby girl this July. Those of you who are lucky enough to know Matt and Jackie know they are nothing but relentless, positive and most of all resilient fighters.

After multiple surgeries, rounds of chemo and rounds of radiation, Matt was recently accepted into a clinical trial at Dana Farber in Boston. He is currently commuting back and forth weekly to receive treatment.

Friends of Matt and Jackie are starting this GoFundMe as a way to provide some financial relief as medical and travel related bills continue to pile up. The stress of unforeseen medical expenses should be the last thing they have to worry about. They are fierce and courageous and never ask for help. It is our hope that this effort will lift some of their stress so they can continue to fight and move forward.
