Help Megan Harris beat Breast Cancer

Donation protected
Megan and Blake were high school sweethearts who married on June 8, 2014.  They have been together since they were 15.  Right before their five year wedding anniversary, they received the heartbreaking news that Megan was diagnosed with breast cancer.

A few days before their anniversary, Megan noticed some pain in her breast and decided to get it checked by her physician. She was hopeful this biopsy would have the same result as her two previous ones. They had both come back clear. However, she followed her gut and got it checked immediately.  With optimism in her heart, she waited on the call from the Breast Center in Northwest Arkansas. The call came and  the nurse told her that her biopsy showed grade 3 cancerous cells, meaning it was fast-growing.

Through the years, Megan and Blake have encountered heartbreaking news before.  The day before Megan's twenty-fourth birthday, she lost her best friend, Shay.  Shay had been by her side since elementary school.  They were inseparable throughout the years into college.  The besties roomed together in college at the University of Arkansas and stayed as close as ever.  For Megan, it was difficult to face life without her best friend.  With time, Megan continually relied on the phrase, "La Vie Est Belle," which means life is beautiful.  As time passes, Shay will always remain in their hearts. Megan and Blake continuously seek moments filled with Shay and look for her in all things beautiful. Shay will forever be their family's guardian angel.

Fast forward a few years, the next stage of their life came sooner than planned.  Rylen Freeman Harris was born on May 16, 2017.  Megan and Blake trusted in God's plan knowing there was a reason their son had been placed into their life so soon. God and Auntie Shay gave them Rylen to not only help keep them both strong but to continue to appreciate the small beautiful things, like Rylen's  sweet smile! Through the course of this journey, Megan and Blake have considered fertility options before starting chemotherapy.  With much prayer and faith, they have decided to trust God’s plan.

Megan spends her days at the Crown Beauty Bar in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  She has been a senior stylist at the coveted salon for over six years. She considers her fellow coworkers as family. She has decided to continue working as much as her chemotherapy treatments will allow. She has developed close, personal relationships with her clients. Over the years, Megan's clients have remained loyal and supportive.  She is blessed with salon owners that are empathetic and encouraging. Zac and Kelly have been steadfast in their faith and prayer.

Megan knew she would have to be diligent in self-breast examinations as she has a family history of breast cancer. At 28, she was part of the 5% of women under 40 to receive this diagnosis. Today, Megan knows that she has Stage 2, Grade 3 breast cancer. Megan, Blake and her support system will face this battle to beat breast cancer.

Megan will begin her first round of chemotherapy on July 1st, 2019. She will have chemotherapy for 20 weeks before having surgery.

Needless to say, this July is going to be the start of a new journey for the Harris Family. Most people would be absolutely crushed with a diagnosis of cancer at 28 & having an awesome two year old to raise. But most people are not Megan. Megan is strong.  She is a warrior,  refusing to go down without a fight.

So we’re asking you to join with us, Megan’s friends and family, to help her do just that — fight, and fight hard.

Your contribution.
With chemotherapy and surgery becoming apart of the Harris family's lives, everything will change. The Harris family is aware of the needs they will face during this time. In light of this, we hope to raise funds to provide for childcare, meals, errands, medical expenses, funds for a wig, and all around at-home care during Megan's battle.

Your financial contribution will allow her to give 100% of her energy to treatment and recovery.

Help us spread the word.
We want to tell Megan’s story in the hopes that others - friends and strangers alike - would be inspired to help and pray for Megan and Blake in their fight against breast cancer. Whether or not you can contribute financially, we’d ask that you consider supporting them by sharing on social media, with a link to this page and the hashtag #meganbeatsbreastcancer in the caption. We would love for her to have a constant reminder that she is not alone and that others are standing alongside her as she fights, victoriously.

We will try to keep this Go Fund Me page updated with Megan’s journey!
