The Minnesota Men’s Conference (MMC) is a unique gathering of men dedicated to embodying what it means to live a life of character, depth, and consequence amidst the noise and chaos of our times. Founded by Robert Bly in 1984, men of all backgrounds have joined together over many decades in the ritual sharing of ancient story, poetry and ceremony that carries a source of nourishment for the soul.
Throughout the years, many MMC lectures, storytelling and poetry readings from men such as Bly, James Hillman, Michael Meade, Robert Moore, Malidoma Somé, Martín Prechtel, Lewis Hyde, Francis Weller and others have been made freely available at youtube.com/@MensConference. They continue to transform the lives of many thousands of men from across the globe.
However, about 16 years of conference material has yet to see the light of day. This project, managed by mythopoetic community, The Fifth Direction, in conjunction with the MMC, aims to fund the archiving and public release of these remaining sessions and lectures. The money received will go toward paying an archivist and editor, as well as covering the cost of overheads.
Since the passing of Robert Bly in late 2021, the task of preserving this material has become even more important, both as a labour of respect and love, and to support the continuing work of the Minnesota Men’s Conference in reaching a greater audience of men around the world who feel the call to deepen their lives and awaken their soul.
