Love for The Lau’s

This New Year, as we reflect on the blessings of the season, we are reminded of the power of kindness, generosity, and community. The Lau family have been blessed tremendously! Please read and see how God worked in the details of their story.

Kit, who was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease (FSGS) seven years ago, knew that a kidney transplant would one day be part of his journey. The Lau family had been told, as recent as Thanksgiving, that dialysis was inevitable and to expect a five year wait for a kidney donation. Yet, the timing and circumstances of his kidney transplant were far from anticipated.

In an unexpected turn of events, Kit received a call on Christmas Eve, from a family friend that would forever change his life. On Christmas Day, an emergency meeting was held by his medical team. Kit and Erica were informed that this was a perfect match for a kidney transplant! The organ donor was on life support. The timing was both a blessing and a shock! With heavy hearts, they were faced with the reality that a young life had been lost.

With profound gratitude, Kit was given the gift of a second chance at life! He would have a chance to watch his two small children grow! The transplant was urgent, and the decision was made quickly, setting the stage for a difficult and uncertain journey ahead.

While they are overwhelmed by the miracle of the match, the months and years to come will be filled with countless doctor visits, ongoing treatments, and a long road to recovery. As they navigate this difficult journey, I (Erica’s friend since childhood), am reaching out for your support.
