Help support Nicks cancer treatment

Donation protected
A great friend of mine, Amy and her husband Scott are going through an unexpected medical situation with their son, Nick- who is 19. My hope is to help alleviate some of the financial burdens so they can provide Nick with the best care possible, without worry or stress.
Through the summer, Nick had what doctors called a cyst on the kidney that was being watched after a dirt bike accident and blood in urine/passing clots. At first it was “an incidental finding” and no cause for alarm. He was monitored and had a scan in August and was to follow up again in 3 months. At the time, cancer was mentioned but they were told it was “so incredibly unlikely” due to his age- and the recent accident, so it was just being monitored.
About 7 weeks later, he was in severe pain and did a trip to the ER (one of many since June). The ER doctors were quick to act and scanned him and then compared his scan to the most recent one. They saw massive growth in that time, the lymph node was enlarged, and evidence that it was now in lungs. They quickly knew it was cancer.
They do not yet know the specific type it is, but know it’s aggressive, has spread and is likely rare. The doctors advised going to New York City for surgery, more pathology, and to see oncologists there. Without hesitation, Amy, Scott and Nick said yes, and are now in New York. While they don’t have a prognosis/confirmation of what type yet, it is clear to his doctors that this is complex, and he is going to need top level care to get through this. His doctors in North Carolina have helped make that happen quickly.
He’s had surgery to remove the kidney, lymph node and adrenal gland, but what the future looks like is uncertain. They are not sure if they will they be able to continue treatment at home (NC) or will they have to travel back and forth to New York City. They have been there a week now, and will be able to go home at some point, but have a few more appointments scheduled in New York this year. But the overall course of action and where/what kind of treatment is still uncertain at this time.
I know they have a lot of people reaching out to offer support, and I know we can’t take away their worry, or the bulk of the emotional toll. So this is the best way I know to offer help.
My goal is to make sure they can do whatever it takes -without hesitation. So am asking for contributions, no matter how small, to help ensure they can focus on what is needed for Nick, without the weight of any financial worry.
I will try to post updates as I have them. All contributions will go directly to Amy and Scott.
