Moar Mobile - an accessible car for Finn Moar

Donation protected
Hello everyone,
Thank you for checking out this fundraising page to support the Moar family in purchasing a suitable wheelchair-accessible vehicle to accommodate our dear Finn.
We want to first mention that the Moars feel really uncomfortable with asking for your help as they have not wanted to seek financial support from their community. It has taken a while for them to accept the need for this GoFundMe page.
As most of you are aware, Finn was born with Spina Bifida, a condition that affects the spine and spinal cord to fully develop. Finn uses a manual wheelchair for everyday mobility and sometimes uses a powered off-road wheelchair for outdoor mobility so that he can participate with his family and friends.
When Finn was younger (and smaller), he was lifted in and out of the family vehicle. As he has grown, he is too heavy to be lifted in and out of the family vehicle and he currently
crawls in. His Occupational Therapist has recommended a modified vehicle so that he can easily and safely transfer from his wheelchair to a seat within the car independently. Finn is
now almost 12 years old and has recently had rapid growth spurts meaning a new and suitable vehicle is desperately needed much sooner than initially anticipated.
Kate and Brendan have begun saving towards the future purchase of a more accessible car for Finn, but an unexpected well-priced and suitable second hand, already modified vehicle, is currently available for purchase IMMEDIATELY for $37,000 ($35,000 for the car plus $2,000 for on-road costs). This vehicle will enable Finn to push his wheelchair onto a ramp at the rear of the vehicle and safely transfer to a seat in a way that will protect and preserve his shoulders, back, knees and skin from injury.
Whilst the NDIS is able to fund vehicle modifications, NDIS requires a vehicle to meet certain criteria which could cost the family upwards of $70,000 for the right vehicle that can be modified. This is not realistic and achievable for the Moar Family. Additionally, vehicle modification suppliers have waiting lists currently enrolling for January 2025 and then modifications can take several months to complete.
Finn’s needs are ongoing and as he gets bigger, transfers become more physically difficult for both Finn, Kate and Brendan. For his independence, safety and dignity, he requires a vehicle he can easily transfer into.
Kate and Brendan are extremely generous and loving in their time and care, always looking to support others in the community wherever they see a need. Now it’s our turn to help
them in their time of need if we can. Having said that, Kate and Brendan are very conscious of the fact that with the increased cost of living many people are under financial pressure at
the moment. They are also aware that many people in their community are impacted by disability and additional needs too. They don’t want anyone to feel obliged or to put
themselves under extra financial pressure in order to donate.

The identified vehicle is being held for the family for ONE week! The aim and hope is to raise enough funds within this week so that Finn can have a vehicle that accommodates his
needs, protects his body and provides him with the dignity he deserves.
