My whole life I wanted to be an artist and while even my college art professors stated it to be impossible to be a professional artist that did not stop me!
One day I thought "if there are other artists who are full time and have made it, then why not me?". In that moment my life changed and it brings me to where I am today. I have sacrificed any type of life for the last year and a half. When I started I was working my day job 40hours a week and spending every waking hour outside of that building my portfolio of my new work, researching, marketing and building my art business.
Six months ago I was finally able to step down from a managerial position and cut one day a week out of my "day job" schedule. Still I have been working around the clock building my business to where I am today. I am not sure when it happened, that moment that I started generating the larger amount of my income from my art, but when that all came into play everything else started to fall in place and I now know it is time to move to the next step in my career.
Being a professional artist and making a large portion of your income from your artwork showing in galleries at some point becomes not the best way to generate income when having to give a 50% commission of your sales. So I decided that I was going to open my own brick and motor gallery so that people could see my work in person more then a couple times a month!
Then a new and bolder idea came into existence....what if I had a gallery that could travel. One where I could go to all the art walks in my state.....and even travel to states in the country where I have fans! A gallery where I can connect with everyone who has supported me from the start. A place where I can build my body of artwork specific to different areas and states and speak to those living there! To educate people around the country on environmental issues or just to bring light in a dark time!
This is my dream, and while renting a space is more achieveable then coming up with a large amount of money upfront to start a project like I am I am dedicated to this idea.
The support that I have gotten from the world so far has lead me to where I am today and it is my hopes that the support will continue and lead me to areas all around the country!
Art can speak every language and has.no barriers! If this project is funded then I could be able to travel to a city near you and inspire people around the country to be more environmentally cautious with their daily actions while seeing the beauty that can be created from our waste!
