Chef to the Shelters Holiday Shelter Meals
Tax deductible
My name is Chef Michael McCoy and I am an alcoholic. By the grace of God, I am sober today.
Chef to the Shelters is a non-profit organization I founded in 2021 to help men, women, and adolescents in early sobriety by serving them meals of dignity and respect. Through food and fellowship, together we walk our recovery journey One Day at a Time.
Each month, Chef to the Shelters prepares and delivers meals to 34 shelters in North Texas, feeding 1,255 residents of detox shelters, treatment facilities, sober living homes, and transitional housing units for those in recovery. There are more shelters, more people in recovery and more bodies and soul to feed than we can currently feed.
We are raising money to increase the number of people we serve. Funds will be used to buy food and pay adults in recovery to work in the Chef to the Shelters kitchen. Additionally, Torchy's Taco's donated a 42-food mobile kitchen to us and we can use that to increase our reach, feed more people and support other businesses and non-profits in North Texas.
In 2021, volunteers and I fed 4,305 people out of my home kitchen. In 2022, we rented a commercial kitchen and expanded our output to feed 18,660. Addiction is an epidemic that isn't going away. Together, we can help those in recovery by feeding them meals that speak of dignity and respect, providing job training and employment opportunities and walking with them in their recovery journey.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Blessings, Chef Mike
