Mobile Water Station: Reduce single-use bottles on HHI

Tax deductible

Hilton Head Island Rotary Lowcountry Environmental Club is addressing the environmental issues facing our island. One of our projects is the huge impact of single-use water bottles by our 3+ million visitors a year, residents and high-density community events.

Raising money for a mobile water station will meet personal hydration needs and eliminate tens of thousands of plastic bottles that are being discarded here annually. This Quench Buggy™ will be able to be loaned to community groups when they have large events, helping to promote alternative products that do not harm the environment. Additionally, it reduces the consumption of microplastic accumulation in our bodies.

There is one constant at every big gathering (festivals, commencements, concerts, sporting events and more), EVERYONE needs water. Refilling bottles and reusable cups just make sense! This water station provides free, healthy drinking water, avoids dehydration, and operates via energy-efficient solar power.
Hilton Head Island is a top destination and home to many. Let’s keep our island at the cutting edge of protecting her beautiful beaches, rich ecological diversity and marine life.
Events or community organizers will be able to create a reusable bottle to be given to attendees to encourage the use of this free water supply and enables use of alternate products that do not harm the environment when they are disposed of.

This project will have joint funding through donations by island businesses, residents and visitors. Large supporters will be able to advertise on the water truck.
