Moe's Books General Fund
Donation protected
Our building needs your support. Our General Fund allows community members to help hold us up. You can add your name to our list of donors today for any amount. A plaque with your name could hang in our illustrious stairwell for any amount over $300.
Curious? Reach out to Moe's Books staff to learn more by calling [phone redacted] 11-7pm any day.
Moe's Books has been in Berkeley since 1959. In 1979, when our new custom building was opened for business, everything about it was shiny and new. Christopherson & Graff, the proud local architects of our modern cinder block palace, joined us for a ground breaking ceremony. Barb Moskowitz, my mom and Moe's partner since the beginning, saved the shovel on a special cushion in her office at our house on Lewiston. Now, 42 years later, we need your help to fortify the structure that holds our 200,000 titles.
Moe's Books does not own this building, but we are responsible for everything that happens here. Like most business, we pay rent and live with the hope that our landlords want us to stay. Although we are deeply connected here, the pandemic has made this more difficult.
When Moe and Barb designed the building, with its oak bookcases and built-in rare book room on the fourth floor, they dreamed of creating an environment that would last. Please contribute to our general fund as we now need many repairs and upgrades to venture forth into the future.
Although I am a beneficiary of the trust that collects the rent, none of the money donated here will go to me or my siblings personally. Thank you so much for loving Moe's Books as we do.
Doris Jo Moskowitz,
Moe and Barb's youngest daughter and the owner operator of Moe's Books since 1997
