Help Mohammad Al-Baba & Mervat Samsum Survive

In the quiet stillness of a university library, Mohammad Al-Baba and Mervat Samsum, both eager 24-year-olds, forged their dreams amidst stacks of technology books. Graduates of the Information Technology Engineering department, their journey through academia was a synchronized ballet of aspirations and achievements. Side by side, they walked the stage at graduation, hand in hand, ready to embark on a future bright with promise. Both found their calling as software quality engineers, a perfect blend of their skills and shared passion for technology, weaving their lives not just as partners in love but also in career.
But the tapestry of their newlywed bliss was abruptly torn apart. The recent war in Gaza ravaged everything they had built together. In one cruel sweep, Mohammad and Mervat lost their jobs, their home, and the sanctuary of their personal dreams. What was once a home filled with laughter and plans became but a memory as they found themselves displaced, their belongings reduced to what could be carried on their backs. They sought refuge in a humble tent in Rafah, amidst the echoing chaos of war.
Adding to the stark brutality of their new reality was the crushing weight of wedding debts—a poignant reminder of a celebration that marked the beginning of their shared life, now a stark contrast to their struggle for survival.
In the face of such devastation, Mohammad and Mervat have not given up hope. Their goal now is to travel to Egypt, where each ticket costs $5,000—a significant amount, yet a necessary step towards safety and stability. Beyond mere escape, they aim to rebuild their shattered careers and lives and dream of bringing what remains of their family in Gaza to join them in a new beginning.
With heartfelt sincerity, they reach out to the world. Every donation, no matter how small, is a brick in the reconstruction of their lives. Their plea is simple yet profound: help them reclaim their place in the world and turn a tragedy into a beacon of hope and renewal.
With the backdrop of war, life has taken a harsh toll on communications as well. Mohammad and Mervat grapple with poor internet connectivity, their voices struggling to reach beyond the confines of their temporary shelters. Constantly on the move, relocating from one uncertain haven to another, the challenges are relentless. Amidst these dire conditions, creating an account to ask for help was no small feat for Mohammad. With no bank account to directly receive aid, the hurdles seemed insurmountable.
Recognizing his plight, I stepped in to lend a hand. Having worked alongside Mohammad as part of a team that developed a mobile app. His dedication and hard work always stood out, marking him as a committed individual even under ordinary circumstances. Now, in these extraordinarily difficult times, it seemed only right to support him.
It was with this intention that I created this page on his behalf. As someone who has witnessed his commitment firsthand, I am reaching out to extend a bridge of support for Mohammad and Mervat, hoping others will join in helping them rebuild their lives. Your generous contributions will not only help them move toward safety but will also provide a foundation on which they can start anew, turning tragedy into a hopeful beginning
"Thank you for your kindness and generosity during this challenging time," they say. "Together, we can turn this tragedy into an opportunity for renewal and hope."
