Help Mohammad Hammad evacuate his family from Gaza
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Laura. My friend Mohammad reached out to me for help as he is desperate to get his family out of Gaza safely. Unfortunately, since this fundraiser was launched, the Rafah border has been closed and it is not currently possible to evacuate. As a result, some of the funds will be used to buy essential items such as food, baby formula, nappies and medicine, until the border reopens and they can evacuate to safety.
Here is his story:
"I am Mohammad Hammad from Gaza (Palestine). I work as a clerk in a hospital in the Gaza strip. I am married and have a daughter, Sarah (age 2). My wife is pregnant. I am writing this after lots of thoughts and hesitation. But the urgency and need to rescue my family is greater than my resilience. I am desperately seeking your generous support to help me evacuate my family (parents, wife, daughter and 2 brothers and 1 sister) from Gaza.
Now I've come to a point where I'm desperate and I URGENTLY need to save my family's life by getting them out of Gaza since there's no SAFE place in Gaza due to slow deaths by hunger, dehydration, displacement, the spreading of illnesses and the ongoing bombings. Choosing to leave is a very painful decision to make, but the situation has become untenable.
We are now homeless like many others due to the ongoing bombings in Gaza since October 7th. My family was displaced 3 times. They now stay in a tent somewhere in Khanyounis in completely inhuman conditions, they're running out of food, there's no electricity, no water, no toilet and the weather is cold and rainy. It's been 3 months of hell and horror. This genocide has been too long to bear and our ental health and lives are in constant danger.
We have reached a point where there is no hope left for us here in Gaza where we are unfortunately just waiting for our turn to die. Even if there is a ceasefire, the destruction in Gaza is beyond prompt repair. To cross "Rafah" Gaza-Egypt borders you need to have your name listed in the Crossing List (paid permit) and co-ordinators in Egypt who have the power to add my family's names to the list at the border are now asking for anywhere from $5,000-8,000 per PERSON! They will not add the names until we can prove we have the money ready. Being the oldest of the family, I won't be able to live with myself if something will happen to my family and I didn't do everything in my power to get them out. Unfortunately our house was demolished and all our dreams were shattered after years of hard work. I spent all my money to build it.
Please help me get them out, I will sincerely appreciate any donation, even small ones that will make a significant difference in alleviating our suffering. Please consider SHARING my campaign widely with your family and friends to reach my goal as soon as possible since every second is death danger in Gaza. I will be forever grateful for your kind assistance in this difficult time.
Thankyou again for standing with us in solidarity and making a positive impact in the lives of those affected".
Information on how donations are transferred:
All funds raised will be transferred to Mohammad's brothers bank account. Mohammed was paid in cash so does not have his own bank account, and unfortunately it is not currently possible to open a bank account due to the ongoing bombing.
Since starting the fundraiser we have encountered some difficulty transferring money directly to Palestine from the UK, but after lots of research have found a successful method.
1) Funds are transferred from gofundme to the UK beneficiary Katrina Wong.
2) Funds are then transferred by Katrina via XE to Mohammed's friend Jawid who lives in the Netherlands.
3) Jawid transfers the funds directly to Mohammed's brothers Bank of Palestine account.
