Mohammad Jundi diagnosed with AML cancer

Hi my name is Fida and I am helping my sister in law overseas raise money to help with the treatment of her son who has recently been diagnosed with AML cancer. AML cancer is cancer of the blood and bone marrow and is quite aggressive so needs to be treated fast. He went into the hospital for what he thought was a tooth infection and was put into ICU immediately. He spent a week in ICU receiving blood and plasma to help get him better enough to transfer him for chemotherapy treatment. He is now in another hospital awaiting treatment but because he isn’t stable treatment hasn’t commenced. He is in Lebanon and the situation here is dire in relation to medical treatment. The cost is high and unaffordable for most of the population. We have collected funds for his treatment so far but he will require ongoing treatment and money needs to be available otherwise they just stop treatment until they’ve received the funds to continue the treatment. He was working and supporting his mum and sisters alongside his brother but now both are unable to work. His brother now spends his day gathering people to donate blood and plasma in Tripoli to have it purified and then transfers it to the hospital in Beirut. We had to take his biopsy with our own hands to have it tested. The hospital just does the basic care routine of the patient but blood tests, biopsies, blood/plasma and medications required all need to be collected and found by the patients family. It is such a shocking, timely and painstaking task to have to undertake just to make sure your brother has the best possible chance of survival. Medications that aren’t available have to be sourced from Turkey or Syria.
