Moira Kerrane's son Dre

The very heart of our community, Moira Kerrane, tragically passed away on 21st November. Moira touched all of our lives. Rain or shine, she was at Deptford Park Playclub or at the 2000 Action Centre, fighting for our community. She achieved great things, keeping both public spaces going in truly inclusive fashion. From delivering food on foot during lockdown to petitioning Mayor and Cabinet in the Council Chambers, Moira was indefatigable in support of us all. She was a force to be reckoned with, galvanising the resources needed and making sure they were shared amongst the most vulnerable. No one was forgotten. How much she loved to be in the park, tending to the birds and the plants in the spare moments not spent in relentless, unpaid devotion to our community.
When she had her own cherished son, Dre, Moira began to focus particularly on provision for children here in our neighbourhood where so many of us struggle to get by. Moira built our playclub into the most outstanding under 5s provision available. It became a home from home for so many of us. Our children grew up here. In so many cases, they know Moira better than their own extended family. To her last breath, Moira was thinking of others. Of us. Now is the time to gather together in love and remembrance of her and to be there for her son Dre, just 16, as she has been there for all of our children. Please give generously to support Dre in anything he needs, now and going forward.
This fundraiser has been organised by Tasha Crofton on behalf of the volunteer team at Deptford Park Playclub. Many of you will know me from there, or from the local Labour Party where Moira's voice was well heard. Money raised will go straight to Moira's brother Neil Kerrane, who will make sure that Dre has access to it according to his needs.
