Hello! My name is Fer.
I am 19 years old and from Mexico. I came alone to the United States in September 2019. My work visa limits me to work as a nanny and am currently caring for a 2 year old baby. My salary is less than $200 a week which covers my necessary bills.
A couple years ago I had a cavity fixed. In January 2020 the cavity filling fell out. I couldn't afford to return to the dentist here in the US to get it fixed since my insurance doesn't cover dental. Now that it has been about five months later my tooth is extremely painful. I have to take several ibuprofen pills everyday to help with the pain.
Last week I was able to eventually see a dentist who told me my case needs to be corrected by an endodontist. This week the endodontist I was referred to gave me a treatment plan that will cost $3,088 which I am unable to afford. The recommended treatment plan includes fixing the molar and putting a crown on it as well as fixing two remaining cavities. This plan is highlighted in the green box in the image below.
The doctor gave me alternative treatment plans that were cheaper but didn't recommend them. She told me that since I am 19, I should save my teeth and that the alternative plan may cause more future problems. The doctor's emergency plan is in the blue box, and cheaper not recommended plan is in the red box in the image below.
