Molly needs a bathroom and bedroom let's help
Donation protected
Hi my name is Emma grant and I'm fundraising on behalf of my mam and twins sisters Molly and Tara.
Molly and Tara are 23 and both have down syndrome. When molly was 4 years old she had an operation to have two 3rds of her windpipe removed. Over the last few years mollys breathing has gotten worse and worse. New years this year molly ended up in drogheda hospital with a chest infection for a week and was discharged. On Tuesday March 14th this year molly went to the doctors and was rushed to beaumount hospital with low oxygen and pneumonia when she was admitted she had pneumonia and sepsis. The Wednesday morning a nurse was with molly and she was whisked to icu and within the day she was critical and in an induced coma which she stayed in for 3 weeks and in all she was in hospital for 8 weeks to the day. Two weeks have past and today the 24th of May she has been readmitted to hospital again with pneumonia. Today Thursday the 25th of May molly was put in to icu and in an induced coma and is now in critical condition
I'm fundraising to try and help my mam with the costs for travel as molly is back in icu and to get started with a downstairs bathroom and a bedroom as molly isn't strong enough for the stairs. Medically she isn't fit to be living in a two story house without these facilities down stairs. We are awaiting for out application to be seen by the council to see will she meet criteria for a grant but have been told it won't cover a bathroom and bedroom and both are needed to keep molly safe
My mam is a full time carer for my sisters and this is her main priority for them to have these sorted. Molly needs all the support and prayers that can come her way
We greatly appreciate any donation big or small.
Molly now has a tracheostomy and will now have it for life. Molly has a whole different quality to life than what she had in 2022. Molly will need full time care machines and supervision.
She also won't get her voice back. She has intense rehabilitation from now on she is in the hospital for the foreseeable and while she is in there we need as much done as possible to get not just Molly but Tara home to my mam.
We have applied to the council for a grant but have been advised by a private OT and other professionals that the grant WILL NOT cover mollys needs of a bathroom and bedroom.
If anyone is in the position please share or donate its greatly appreciated
