On July 22, 2015 our friend Molly was the victim of a violent crime. She is 29 years old, 5’1 and about 100 pounds soaking wet. A person broke into her house while she was sleeping, kicked in her bedroom door, tased her and proceeded to beat her until she was unrecognizable. That night forever changed her and to this day the person responsible for this inhumane crime walks the streets with no conscious. She suffered severe physical injuries, the worst being an orbital floor (blow-out) closed fracture to her right eye. After the days in the hospital, and slowly healing with the help and support of others, her eye finally opened, but she was seeing everything slanted and double. That same day she was told to drive to Froedhert Eye Institute for an emergency visit. She had to undergo surgery to reconstruct the very thin bone that was barely (but thank god) holding up her eye. For the amount of kicks she took to her head, we are not surprised how close she came to losing her eyesight, as it was a sliver away from completely sinking in. Since then she has been battling both physically and mentally. She still deals with double vision, facial numbness and tingling (third nerve paralysis) to the right eye and right side of her face. The mental healing process is just as hard of a battle for her too. We can only imagine all that goes through her mind on a daily basis, especially knowing that her attacker is still out there. At her most recent appointment her doctor informed her that she would need reconstructive surgery to repair the permanent damage done to her face. This surgery will only be a small part of the long road she has ahead of her. We also want the person responsible for this to get the justice he deserves so we are raising money to assist and support whatever it takes to make sure this happens.
