Help Molly girl in her fight with congestive heart failure ❤️
We all know Molly , we all have loved Molly and we know that Molly is MY entire heart & soul.
In the middle of the night Molly showed signs of heavy breathing and a swollen stomach so we immediately took her to the emergency vet. After being admitted at 1A she was immediately examined , given a series of x-rays and test that confirmed that she was indeed in congestive heart failure. The next couple hours were the worst hours of my life not knowing if I was going to see her again or if she would make it back home. She was hooked up to ivs and placed in an oxygen chamber to try to get ahold of her breathing and oxygen intake as well as medication to drain the fluid that was building up in her abdomen which then can put strain on her kidneys and lungs.
Thank god she made it through the night and her rapid heart beats and breathing went down significantly from 80 (danger zone) to 45
This morning she was seen by a cardiologist who needed to do an ekg on her to determine the severity of her heart failure. Thankfully she isn’t in the end of life stage of her heart failure and if she continues to improve in the oxygen chamber and there isn’t any stress put on any other organs she will be able to go home after 48 hours in the critical care unit. The next couple weeks and months that follow she will be on a regimen of heart medication and will need routine check ups that will include blood work and X-rays. With all that being said that original bill to stay in the emergency vet has tripled considering the continued stay to make sure she is stable , medications and test she will need from her cardiologist. Her prognosis isn’t the best but it can be worse and I count my lucky stars that once she is out of the danger zone (hopefully by Friday afternoon) with a regimen of medication and check ins she will be with me for a bit longer
To say my heart is completely breaking is an understatement . For those who know Molly , you know that she is the literal air in my lungs , sun in my sky, heart that beats in my body. SHE is my soulmate. From the very moment I brought her home at just 3 months old , 15 years ago I knew I couldn’t imagine life without her. She is small, she is feisty , she is mighty, she is my angel on this earth. I am thankful for the 15 years I’ve had with her and can only hope for a bit more time
