Mom and Eric's Kidney Donation

Dear friends and family,
My Mom and Eric have always had a special bond....now more than ever! As many of you are aware, my Mom is in need of a kidney. My brother Eric unselfishly volunteered to get himself tested at the Mayo to see if he was a match; however, he wasn't a direct match. This led him to sign up for the paired donation program.
With great relief and thankfulness, the Mayo recently found a donor match for my Mom and a recipient for Eric's kidney! Tomorrow, February 11th, Eric will undergo surgery to have his kidney removed and it will go to a recipient in Florida while my Mom will receive a kidney from a donor in Rochester. Two lives saved with the selflessness of two incredible donors willing to undergo this major surgery!
It has been a difficult decision for me to set this up as I don’t like to ask for help; however, this is for two people who mean so much to me and I want to help them out any way I can. My parents will have to spend a month in Rochester at a VRBO home. Eric and Emily will be taking time off of work, driving back and forth for appointments as they try to coordinate their kids’ busy schedules.
I thought it would be nice to surprise them with a gift of money after surgery to say, “Thank you, Eric!” and “Here's to your health and the future ahead, Mom!” If you know my Mom and my brother, they are always willing to help, are such giving people, and are the first to volunteer and do good for others! I want to show them how very much they are loved by their friends and family!
