Mom and Special needs child need your help!

Hello there,

My name is Amber and our family needs emergency funds to protect our housing. We are currently going through a tumultuous divorce, gaining full custody of my 15-year-old special needs child after a traumatic incident with their father in Georgia and am in the middle of a massive career change. All of these have come very quickly and to date, we have been able to navigate it all successfully with the support of our extended family and friends!

Unfortunately, due to miscommunication on our apartment complex end, we now have to come up with an extra $2000 in funds to be able to move into our new two-bedroom apartment by July 21st. The original agreement was 1st month and a $250 transfer fee with this move-in date. We did account for this and were ready to go even with all the obstacles we faced. We were told today at 9 am that they apologize for the miscommunication, but these move-in fees were required reguardless of what was communicated previously or planned. Even with accountability being held on their end, these fees unfortunately cannot be worked around. We were also notified that if we are unable to come up with these "Easily obtainable" funds on the date of signing and move-in, our current lease has already ended and is awaiting a new family to move in. There are no other apartments available. We have worked through every option and have come to the wall that my family and I will have no option but to come up with the funds or we face losing our housing.

We are devastated, as we have worked so hard to get to this point in this transition. We have come so far and are hoping that this can help us keep what we have worked for. We do not want to have to displace our fur children and put my child into a place that will not be conducive to their healing and growth let alone safety. They deserve a clean home and space for themselves and I am fighting with everything I have to make sure they get it. Even if that means asking for help when I have hit a wall that cannot be traversed on pure hard work and myself alone.

Any help is so greatly appreciated beyond words. I am not a woman to so freely ask for help. I have carried myself through hell and back with pride. However this year I have needed to lean on my friends and community for the safety of my special needs child and their transition to this state. This has been a very difficult year but we greatly appreciate all the love and support we have been given during this time. I will be sure to pay this help forward any way I can.
