Mom held hostage by mexico hospital
My name is Ryen Moormann. On April 30, 2017, my mother, Vikki Moormann, went to Nuevo Vallarta Mexico with my aunt Pat. On May 2, 2017, my mother was admitted to a private hospital without being told it was a private hospital. As of May 8, 2017, the hospital is demanding approximetly $35,000 in order to release her, and the bill is growing daily. My mother has given the hospital $1,000 in cash, and has maxed out all of her credit cards to pay towards her bill. We have sent the hospital $5,000.
She was supposed to leave on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. She tried to leave the hospital twice but they will not allow her to leave until the bill is fully paid. The first time she attempted to leave the hospital, the hospital staff called four male security guards and forced her into a different room. She was told she was not allowed to leave, and took away her wheelchair. The second time my mom tried to leave, she was stopped by the guards who told her they would have her arrested. When my aunt Pat told the hospial staff that my mother does not have that much money and asked what were they going to do with her, they responded by saying, "We will let her sit in the lobby until the bill is paid."
The total amount due, approximatly is $35,000, as of May 10 . Vikki Moormann is a 70-year-old retired school teacher and does not have this large amount of money. My father, her husband, Donald Moormann passed one year ago on May 4, 2016. She went on this vacation with my dad's sister Pat so she wasn't sad around the anniversary of his passing.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated and will go towards my mom's hospital bill. We are not trying to get out of paying this medical bill. My mom intends on getting a mortgage on her home to pay them but she has to be here to do this.
We ask that you call the U.S. Consulate at 011-52-55-5080-2260 or 011-52-55-5080 x 2000 and ask for their help in getting my mom released.
