Lost Everything in a Fire
Donation protected
The night of November 13th, my mom barely made it out alive from a house fire. She had taken sleeping pills earlier that night and miraculously managed to wake up in time to escape the flames with nothing but the clothes on her back. She's currently seeking treatment for smoke inhalation, but otherwise safe and sound.
While we're immensely grateful for her health and safety, my mom lost everything in the fire. Her entire house burnt to the ground, leaving her without a home to call her own. Every valuable possession, every keep sake. Decades of her life and family history erased overnight – and that's not to mention the additional toll of the household items she'll eventually need to replace – furniture, bedding, dishes... the list goes on.
Mom will be staying with us while we work on raising money and help her find a new place to call home.
In the mean time, we're praying that our friends and family can come together and help my mom get on her feet after this tragedy. Times are tough, but even $5 can make a difference.
If you've ever met my mom or any of her children, you know exactly how wonderful, selfless, and loving she is. All her life, she'd happily give the shirt off her back to a stranger. Let's return the favor.
PS: If you don't have any money to spare, the next best thing you can do is share this gofundme. Please help us spread the word:
If posting on Facebook or Twitter, accompany the post with a photo or video upload and don't put the link at the end – otherwise Facebook/Twitter will be more likely to hide the post from your friends.
Consider texting 5-10 friends directly with the link to this gofundme, asking them for their help. We can raise more money if we ask personally rather than making blanket posts on social media.
If you have a relationship with any large pages on social media, consider pitching this link for them to share. Providing pre-written copy to accompany the post will make the page owners more likely to share, so feel free to pluck the language from this about section when pitching.
If you use Instagram, please create a grid post notifying your followers of this gofundme and letting them know that the link is accessible in your bio. If you have swipe ups enabled, coordinate a story post with the link around the same time as your grid goes live.
If you have any relationships with local press in Ohio, let us know – we're more than happy to provide interviews, footage, etc.
Thank you so much for your time and donations.
